That will add the crystal symbol without adding anything you haven't learned legitimately.Īlso, if you're using the direwolf20 mod pack and haven't been to twilight forest yet, there's a conflict between those two mods. Delete the creative notebook, travel to the age at least once, and then teach that book to your regular notebook. THen you create a descriptive book only with symbols you already know (instability doesn't matter) plus the crystal symbol. That will include all of the available symbols. To cheat in the crystal symbol without ruining your other 'legit' symbols, you need to get the notebook out of creative mode. (I've seen reports of over 100 dimensions created without getting it randomly, and the villager that is supposed to sell it is also extremely rare.) Even the creator of the mod suggests you cheat it in. It's almost impossible to get it legitimately. One problem with the mod is that the symbol for 'crystals' that allow you to create your own portals is too rare. If you get them right, you will have a stable age that has no problems. If you don't add required symbols, the game will add random symbols. Once you have learned the symbols, you can write them into blank descriptive books (ones you haven't used to travel) to make custom ages. As you create books, you can teach the symbols to your notebook. Every time you create a descriptive book and travel to that dimension, you can let the game assign 'symbols' to that dimension that control the features it has. Other dimensions will have more or fewer features, and may or may not have 'instability' that causes bad things. This is the book that lets you travel to other dimensions. The second type of book is more complicated: the Descriptive book. Eventually, after you find crystals, and you spend the diamonds (72) and gold to make a link modifier, you can create your own portals that lead directly to any base. They are all at least 1km apart from eachother, but I can link to the nether and back up to the overworld in a few seconds. For example, I have my original base, where my cow and sheep farms are, my Volcano house, with my processing machinery, and my desert base, where my thaumcraft stuff is. (use book stands or lecterns books left on the ground will die.) Then you put your overworld linking books in your nether base. Anytime you find something interesting that you'd like to go back to, or that you want to be able to travel to quickly, make a linking book for that location, and leave a nether link book there. As you explore the world, carry books with you. Make a nether base, and create a bunch of linking books to your nether base. (Later you can make an item that lets you teleport within a dimension) A good use of these is to set up what's called a 'nexus' in the Nether. The first kind, Linking Books, let you teleport between already existing dimensions. You can make two kinds of books in Mystcraft, not counting the notebook. As the others have said, step one is to get books.
